SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi's office said on Wednesday that it had received a suspicious envelope consistent with dozens of similar envelopes received by congressional offices nationwide. The letter was sent to Rep. Pelosi's (D-Calif.) San Francisco district office.

"Today, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi's district office received a suspicious letter consistent with mailings reported by other congressional offices around the country," said Nicholas Martin, a spokesperson for Pelosi. "Everyone is safe, and our office is following established security procedures."

"Speaker Pelosi remains focused on serving the people of San Francisco and is concerned for the Members and staff whose offices have experienced similar incidents," the statement continued. "She is grateful for the efforts of the U.S. Capitol Police, the San Francisco Police Department and other law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate this series of intimidation across America."

The envelope sent to Pelosi is one of roughly half-dozen or more similar envelopes sent to Bay Area and Northern California congressional representatives. The envelopes, which were sent to the offices of Reps. Jimmy Panetta (D-Calif.) and Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) among others, contained a "suspicious" white powder.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the mailings.
