MARION— The Marion Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own after the death of beloved K9 Quill.
MPD announced Quill’s passing in a Facebook post Tuesday night, writing: “It is with immense sadness that we report the passing this evening of MPD K9 Quill after an illness.”
According to the department, Quill “courageously worked until very near the end and passed with dignity,” surrounded by his handler, Officer Max Stefanatos, fellow K9 handlers from MPD and other agencies, and staff at Comfort Veterinary Hospital.
“Quill was a loyal, fearless partner and he will be missed badly,” the department wrote.

MPD is asking the public to join them in offering condolences to Officer Stefanatos and his family as they grieve the loss of their K9 partner.
“Rest easy, Quill.”
